Cyber security
At MassMutual Ascend, we value our customers and relationships. We take cyber security and protection of customer data seriously and we'll continue to make investments to help protect your information.
A few tips to stay cyber safe
As cybercriminals become more creative, it's important to be aware of the tactics they use. Often victims are asked to disclose pieces of personal information that financial institutions, including MassMutual Ascend, would never ask for.
In addition to knowing what pieces of information we'll never ask for, it's important to remain vigilant anytime you are communicating about personal financial information, especially via phone, email or text. Be watchful of requests for personal information. If you're ever unsure if a request is legitimate, you can contact MassMutual Ascend to confirm the inquiry's legitimacy. Below are some additional cyber security best practices to keep in mind.
- Be suspicious of any unsolicited messages, especially texts out of the blue. When in doubt, instead of responding directly to the unsolicited message, contact the sender using your known sources and contact details.
- Never reply to any requests for financial information, like account numbers, bank accounts or passwords.
- Don't accept "friend" requests from unknown parties.
- Be cautions of individuals who urge you to act fast.
- Avoid investment opportunities that sound too good to be true.
- Don't include personal or contact information in your social media profiles.
- Set everything to "private," especially photos, videos and profile information.
- Don't send money, trade or invest with a person you've only met online.
- Don't provide banking information, Social Security numbers, copies of your identification or passport or any other sensitive information to anyone online.
